PUSHPIN WAWAWAWAWA
‘WAWAWAWAWA’ is the newest single from South London-based art-pop quartet, Pushpin. It’s an angular, wonky song that feels sonically indulgent from its first moments. It builds quickly, with thick bass lines interacting with shuffling drums as Arthur Robins delivers memorable hook after memorable hook. Its instrumentals are maximalist and shimmering, with bold synths bursting to life amongst a wall of well-produced texture that gives way to its atmospheric outro all too soon. “The song’s about all the chaos of life swamping you, aging you, making you a horrible little gremlin,” they say. “But then you figure a way through it through your connections with other, wonderful people.” Pushpin are releasing their self-titled album on October 11th, 2024 and will be celebrating with their biggest headline show to date at London’s Moth Club on November 16th, 2024. -Dan Peeke
